I call upon the people of the United States to participate in this national observance and to display the flag of the United States on Loyalty Day as a symbol of pride in our Nation.”
Apparently May 1st is now “Loyalty Day” in the United States. I understand celebrating patriotism and loving our country, but isn’t this sort of a facist way of phrasing it?
Edit: Apparently this ‘holiday’ has been around for years, and finds it’s origins in the fifties, when the holiday was created to “counterbalance the celebration of Labour Day on May 1st, which was perceived as communist.” (wikipedia)
